Description
I am certain Sahad will prove to be quite a character if you get to know him well. His manner of answering questions said that to me. Like many others in the home, he did not remember his birth date, but said to me with a straight face that he knew it was celebrated on one of the two Islamic festivals.
Originally from Maligawatte, Sahad is now at the GLH with his younger brother, and informs me that his mom works at an orphanage and has their little sister with her. He does seem a bit unhappy about the whole situation though, for when I asked him what brought him to the Home, he quite flatly told me that his Mother gave him here, and that he has to study here.
Speaking in fluent Sinhalese, Sahad ranks Mathematics as his favorite subjectr and Cricket as his number 1 sport choice. Getting along really well with Ahsaan, he too affirms that the Home takes care of them. I also learned that he recites the Qur’an very well.
As we prepare to part ways, the silently smiling Sahad softly tells me that he wants to be a doctor when he grows up!
