A seemingly content young man, Hassan was not however very vocal in our conversation, choosing to give monosyllabic answers. It was not meant rudely however, for he had a pleasant smile for me all the time.
Hailing from Kanthalai, he lived with his Aunt, Uncle, brother and sister before he came to GLH. Although he speaks almost exclusively in Tamil right now, he couples Sinhala and English alongside Tamil as his favorite subjects in school.
He shares a close rapport with Osama, and joins his housemates in playing Cricket, Football and Badminton. Speaking about life at the Home, he says he is happy, seeing that they get fed well and get taken care of well too.
I wrapped up the conversation with him, but not before finding out that he really likes to study and would like to become a Doctor one day.
