If smiles can light up rooms, Fawas’ smile would illuminate a ballroom. A delightful little kid to talk to, he lets me know he is from Kadugannawa in Kandy. His Mother and grandmother are at home, with his two brothers away at madrasa.
Speaking in Tamil, he talked to me about school. He enjoys learning Tamil and Islam, and likes to play cricket.
He says his friend at the Home is Hassan, and that it is a good place. He also had a good explanation as to why he thought he was at GLH in the first place. “I came here because I don’t study at home” he says, smiling for all he is worth.
Becoming a Police Officer is his ambition he tells me, all the while smiling real bright as I captured his photograph.
