Mohamed again, is from Atulugama itself. With two brothers and a sister to look after, in addition to him, he understands poverty was a reason why his mother decided to send him to Give Light Home. A naturally intelligent child, he had a hesitation about his nature, taking things slow and guardedly.
Speaking relatively good English, Mohamed is also adept at conversing in Sinhalese in addition to Tamil. At school, his favorite subject is English. Back at the home, he has learnt to play Chess and also goes out to play with his mates, Husni being the closest to him.
He likes it at the home, and appreciates that they are fed well. He took a long time to say it, but I did manage to draw out of him that his favorite food was Grapes, something he said he doesn’t get to eat too often.
A child who loves to read, and confesses to dislike sleeping too much, I couldn’t help but feel for this intelligent yet hesitant child, who wants to grow up to become a Computer Engineer.
