Description
This doe-eyed little boy from Kahatowita, captured my heart the moment he walked in. With an apologetic expression and slow movements, Raahis shared with me, in Sinhalese, a little glimpse into his young life.
Back home he used to live with his Mother, Father, Grandparents, younger brother and sister and two older brothers who were both away at hostel.
He tells me he loves learning Social Studies, but is not really fond of Mathematics. He asserts that he likes studying and learning, and does so even in his spare time at the Home.
Azam, Rilwan and Sahad join him in the evenings to play with him at the Home. On answering my question as to what brought him here, he replies that it was so that he could study. He was happy with the way things were at the house, and said that things were good.
Having met some friends of his Father’s who were in the police force, Raahis has decided that he would like to be a Police Officer when he grows up.
