Description
Rahid is from Colombo. He left behind his father and 2 sisters to come to GLH, he told me. “ So what brings you here?” I asked him, and immediately felt bad seeing the sorrow cross his face. “I don’t have a Mother, so I came here”, he said in a mumble looking away.
Speaking some basic English, he also asserts that English is his favorite subject at school. He speaks both Sinhalese and Tamil, having grown up around the Colombo Port area.
He enjoys playing Cricket and Badminton with the other boys, and says Husni is his close friend. He doesn’t like to draw art much, but does enjoy reading English.
He clearly enjoys life at GLH. He can recite, he can learn and the food is good and abundant. He does want to grow up though, and become a Police Officer one day.
