Description
Rashmi is not a man of many words. Seated opposite me with a serene smile playing on his lips, he tells me he is from a village called Bammanna, where he lived with his Mother, Brother and Sister. His Sister is away too, he says, at a madrasa.
Fluent in both Sinhalese and Tamil, Rashmi is not confident using English, haltingly speaking a few words with me. Attending school with his house mates, he is fond of mathematics and likes to play cricket in the evenings.
He is happy with the environment at GLH, he smiles. They are looked after and they get to study, which is why he is here. Not wanting to play favorites, he tells me all the children in the home are his friends.
Wrapping up the mostly one sided conversation, the silent yet nice Rashmi tells me he will one day become a Pilot.
