Description
Just three days into his stay GLH, Saajid is the picture of happiness. His radiant smile never left his face, and nor did his easy, outgoing manner change. Having lived in Wellampitiya with his Grandparents and younger brother; he, with his brother, was directed to the Home when his parents officially split up.
Equally at ease with both Sinhala and English Saajid spoke gushingly about meeting new friends and looking forward to starting at school. A fan of Tamil as a subject, Saajid likes to play cricket too.
He has already identified Zaid and Osama as his buddies, and he jokingly mentioned that his brother has accumulated even more friends, as there were many boys his age at the Home too.
Saajid was openly vocal about the Home being a great place to be. He said it was much better than at home, and all the facilities from the food to the sleeping arrangements were just great.
He bounced out of the room happily, calling out to his brother who was to meet me next, but not before telling me that his ambition was to become an Engineer.
